Superior, WI -
The Jacks traveled to Superior, WI today for a non-conference contest against the University of Wisconsin-Superior YellowJackets.
The Jacks attacked early in the first period immediately recording shots on goal. However, the YellowJackets would get on the board first, taking a 1-0 lead. The YellowJackets were able to score again a few minutes later to go up 2-0 over the Jacks. The Jacks answered with a goal from
Kyle Pouncy. He was assisted by
Zackary Fisher and
Michael Courvoisier on the play. The Jacks went into the first intermission down 2-1.
The Jacks once again threatened early to start the second period, but it would be the YellowJackets who would start the scoring in the second. The Jacks would once again answer when
Kalib (Gus) Ford put it between the pipes to cut the YellowJackets lead down to one.
Marshall Nikitin and
Kyle Gonzalez were credited with assists on the goal. The YellowJackets would add one more goal before the end of the period. The Jacks went into the final period down 4-2.
The YellowJackets added an insurance goal to start the third, but the Jacks would once again answer as
Zackary Fisher ripped a shot into the back of the net to get the Jacks within 2.
Lucas DeBenedet and
Connor Evans assisted in the goal. The YellowJackets would score once more before the end of the game. The Jacks would fall by a final score of 6-3.
David Krejcik recorded 24 saves, while
Taylor Unruh recorded 12.
The Jacks will be back on the ice at home on 11/30. Puck drop is set for 4pm.
