The Jills hosted the Lawrence University Vikings today at the Chapple Family Gymnasium.
Both teams would start the first quarter ready to go as they would trade shots with one another. The Jills struck first, but the Vikings immediately answered. The Vikings built a nine point lead over the Jills early in the half, but the Jills would fight their way back into the game. They would go into the second quarter down by four.
The back and forth battle continued in the second quarter. The Jills would continue to hit their shots, but Lawrence University would match them. A
Katherine Taylor layup would get the Jills back on top with 2:27 remaining in the quarter. The Jills took a 23-22 lead into halftime.
The Jills widened their lead to three to start the third quarter off a jumper by
Ashton Meadows. However, the Vikings would retake the lead later in the quarter. A
Sarah Houle 3-pointer would get the Jills back on top. The Jills went into the fourth quarter with a 40-36 lead.
Once again the Jills got on the board first to start the quarter. A flurry of 3-pointers by the Jills would widen their lead to 15. The Jills wouldn't look back as they held on to win by a final score of 58-42.
Katherine Taylor led the Jills with 16 points, while
Emily Wagner,
Ashton Meadows, and
Lindsay Bresette each added 8.
The Jills will be back at home 11/13 against Silver Lake College. Tip off is scheduled for 6pm.
