1/6/2018 8:49:00 PM

Ashland, WI -

The LumberJills hosted Upper Midwest Athletic Conference opponent Crown College today at the Chapple Family Gymnasium.

The Jills got off to a hot start with a steal to start the game and quickly got off to a 4-0 lead. Crown was able to answer the Jills offensive attack and took a 7-6 lead. The Jills tied the game up at 10-10, but Crown would later retake the lead. Crown was able to pull out to a 15 point lead, but the Jills were able to close the gap before the end of the half.

The Jills wasted no time in getting back into the game as they would cut the Crown lead down to 3 a little over 5 minutes into the half. However, Crown would once again pull away from the Jills with a 9 point lead. That wouldn't deter the Jills. They would battle their way back into the game and take a 54-53 lead. With time winding down, and Crown up by 3 the Jills would have a chance with the last shot of the game. However, the ball would rattle off the rim. The Jills lost by a final score of 61-58.

Mckayla Waggoner led the Jills with 14 points, while Katherine Taylor and Sarah Houle recorded 10 and 9 points respectively. Waggoner also led the Jills in steals with 4. Emily Wagner led with 6 assists.

The Jills will be back on the court 1/10 against North Central University in Minneapolis, MN. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30pm.
