12/2/2017 7:47:00 PM

Mequon, WI -

The LumberJills faced off against the Concordia University Falcons today for the second time in as many days.

Both teams would threaten in the first period, but the goal tenders would be able to keep the puck out of the net. The Jills would consistently get shots on net, but weren't able to get them by the Falcon's goaltender. The Jills would maintain pressure for the entire first period, but would be unable to get on the board. The Jills stepped up their offensive attack in the second period and played their hockey. The Jills would threaten multiple times, but wouldn't be able to find the back of the net. They would outshoot the Falcons 12-9 to finish out the second. The Jills' offense would cool off in the third period, but their defense would keep the Falcons in check and continue to hold them scoreless and send the game into overtime. The Jills threatened to end the game early in the overtime period, but the Falcons would be able to fend off the attack. The match would ultimately end in a 0-0 tie.

Robyn Matula led the Jills with 7 shots, while Maggie Cusey finished the night with 40 saves.

Head Coach Kelly Rider commented on the game: "Our first period was much better than yesterday, and we had some things to build off of, but we still weren't playing our hockey. It was good to get out of the period tied. We played much better and closer to our full potential in the second period. It's been a while since we've been able to string shifts together and it was nice to see us get back to playing our hockey. I thought we had much better offensive zone chances than we've had in quite some time. We were hopeful in the third, but we just didn't have the finish today and find the back of the net. While we wished we had a better effort yesterday, it was good to see us not give up or give in during the third period. In overtime we had a few chances and it was more back and forth hockey. In the end if we are just looking at today's game it was good to get a point from it."

The LumberJills will be back on the ice 12/8 against the College of St. Benedict at the Bay Area Civic Center in Ashland, WI. Puck drop is scheduled for 7pm.

Northland College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, WI. The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 15 varsity sports and compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference and the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association.
