Jills Fall to Lakers

Ashland, WI -

The LumberJills played their home opener today against the Silver Lake College Lakers.

The Jills were ready to go from the start as they would quickly be able to jump out to a 16-4 lead over the Lakers. Silver Lake would battle back, but the Jills would be able to take a 19-11 lead into the second quarter. The LumberJills widened their lead early in the second, but wouldn't be able to hold on as the Lakers would go on a 13 point run to take the lead 24-21. The Jills traded blows throughout the quarter with the Lakers, but went into the half down 30-27. In the third, the Jills would find their groove and retake the lead 35-33. Both teams would trade points with each other, but the Lakers would eventually retake the lead 45-41. In the 4th, the Jills would hit a couple of threes to take the lead 49-47. The Lakers would be able to find a way to take the lead with time running out. However, Sarah Houle would hit a layup to tie it up at 56-56. A LumberJill foul with 4 seconds remaining on the clock would give the Lakers an opportunity that they would capitalize on. The Lakers would go on to win 58-56.

Katherine Taylor led in points with 21, while Ashton Meadows added 13. Emily Wagner led in assists with 4.

The LumberJills will be back in action 11/17 on the road against Lawrence University. The game is scheduled to begin at 4pm.
