LumberJills Battle in 3rd Period, Drop Game Two to Bethel

12/10/2016 8:33:00 PM

Saturday the Northland College Women's Hockey team played the second game of the weekend at Bethel University this afternoon.

The Jills battled tough, but found themselves down 2-0 after one and then saw two unfortunate bounces go in in the 2nd. Despite a 4 goal deficit after the second, the Jills came out flying in the third period. Bethel would score first, but the Jills answered with a power play goal by Amanda Abounader, her first collegiate goal, from a pass from Destiny Muir. Chloe Marshall had another outstanding appearance in net and made 51 saves.

Head Coach, Kelly Rider, commented that she was "very proud of the team for not just stringing together three strong periods today, but six full periods throughout the weekend." She added, "It was fun to watch our commitment to our team and team values and the resiliency we displayed all weekend."

The Jills are looking forward to their home opener on Tuesday at the BACC. It will be the Jills last contest before the winter break.  The game will also feature a ceremonial puck drop by President Miller. The game against Concordia-Moorhead begins at 7pm.
