The Northland College Women's hockey team played their second game of a two game series at Lake Forest College on Sunday afternoon.

The Foresters entered the game as the #8 team in the country this weekend. The Jills came out strong and worked hard, blocked shots, and killed a few penalties. After the first the Jills were only down 1-0. Despite some back and forth play in the second, Lake Forest, scored 5 unanswered goals to bring the score to 6-0 heading into the third.

The Foresters added a seventh goal at 12:10 of the third, but the Jills refused to give up. Goaltender, Chloe Marshall stated, "Despite the score, the atmosphere kept building and it was fun to have everyone buying in." Robyn Matula answered Lake Forest's last tally immediately at 12:27 with a goal from Michaela Isetts-Williams and Amanda Abounader. Kylie Wickiser followed up with another even strength goal from a pass from Ally Covert at 13:33. The Jills continued to fight to the end, but the final score would be 7-2 for Lake Forest.

Head Coach, Kelly Rider, commented that, "Today we were really proud of our team. They were prepared, supported each other, worked hard and refused to give up." Rider also noted that even though the Jills lost, they won the third period 2-1. Rider said, "It was exciting and promising to see the team continue to battle and play our game regardless of what was on the scoreboard. I firmly believe that while efforts like today may not show up on the scoreboard immediately they will carry over and have an impact in close games in the program's future."

The Jills are off for the Thanksgiving break and play next at UW-Stevens Point on December 3rd. Rider added, this afternoon's game was a "great way to head into our break and it comes at a perfect time. Our team has worked hard and accomplished a lot in the program's first 9 games, all of which have been on the road, which is never easy for any program." After Stevens Point the Jills have a pair of games at Bethel before their first ever home game on December 13th.
