The Northland College LumberJills entered Saturday afternoon's matchup against The College of Saint Benedict with positive momentum from their first ever game the night before.

The Jills strung a couple of good shifts to start off the first period, but found themselves down 4-0 at the end of one. The Blazers managed to score three even strength goals and one power play goal.

In the second period the LumberJills held the Blazers scoreless and the score remained 4-0 after two. In the third period Northland took a time out before Allyson Reilly netted her second goal of the weekend off a great look on the powerplay from Kylie Fahmer. The Jills continued on a strong finish, keeping the shots even at 11-11 for the period, but the Blazers managed to tack on three more goals to finish out the game 7-1. Maggie Cusey had 45 saves in her first collegiate start.

Coach Rider commented that, "Our team has a lot of potential. There are moments when we can play with anyone, it's just a matter of staying consistent and playing our game every shift. At the same time we are still very early in our season and in our program's history. To have so many things to build off of from the weekend is promising and it's exciting to finally be playing games and seeing everything come to fruition. Overall, it was a very good showing for our first weekend ever, especially on the road. "

The LumerJills will make a quick turnaround as they play at UW-Superior Tuesday night at 7:00pm and then travel to Augsburg for a pair of games next weekend.
