DULUTH, Minn. - Northland College traveled to the College of St. Scholastica for a mid-week Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) showdown in the newly renovated Wade Stadium.  The Jacks and Saints both entered competition with a 3-0 conference record, battling to stay on top of UMAC standings.  An early start for the Saints caused the Jacks to climb an uphill battle and resulted in a 11-2 loss.

The Jacks felt confident going into their game with back-to-back UMAC pitcher of the week recipient Kyle Strom (Crown Point, Ind./Merrillville HS) on the hill.  Coming off of three days rest, Strom struggled to find his location resulting in the Saints taking the early lead.

After allowing two runs in the first inning, the Jacks led off the top of the second when Daniel Kollauf (Ashland, Wis./Ashand HS) and Matt Alberino (Medford, Mass./Arlington Catholic) led the inning with back to back singles.  Kollauf later scored on an Alex Elliott (Middleton, Wis./Middleton HS) GIDP, making the score 2-1.  The Saints answered in the bottom half of the inning pushing across 3 runs.

Northland was held scoreless up until the sixth inning when Matt Lennon (Reedsburg, Wis./Reedsburg HS) hit a sac fly to left, scoring Jakob Freele (Smartville, Cal./Nevada Union HS).

Northland remains in the top half of the conference, battling for conference playoff position.  The Jacks are 3-1 in conference play, 7-13 overall with their next conference series coming up this weekend at Crown College.
