Jacks Finish Spring Training with Loss to Rockford

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Northland closes out spring training with a 10-6 loss to Rockford College on Sunday.  The Jacks competed in their seventh game of the week while the Regents had just one game prior to today's ballgame.  The Jacks finish their trip with a record of 4-5 and head back to Ashland with a successful opening week.

Head Coach Ernie May called on 4 different pitchers during today's game and gave a young squad an opportunity to finish out the week.  The Jacks jumped on Regents pitcher James Northrup early in the game and drew a 4-2 lead going into the 5th inning.  Freshman Damion Freeman (Sacramento, CA/Inderkum HS) reached home plate twice in the early stages of the game and 4 different freshman also recorded RBIs in these early stages.

The Regents shifted momentum in the 5th inning, reaching home plate on 5 different plays and adding 3 more runs in the 6th inning, securing a lead.  The Jacks made a push to recover the defecit in the 9th inning, sending home freshman Alex Loberger (Maribel, Wis./Denmark HS) and senior Daniel Kollauf (Ashland, Wis./Ashland HS).

The Jacks conclude their spring trip and have a quick turnaround for their next series of games.  They travel to Ohio for weekend games, meeting Capital University for a 10:00 a.m. (EST) start on March 14th.
