FORT MYERS, Fla. - Freshmen Damion Freeman (Sacramento, CA/Inderkum HS) and Dennis Morales (Holiday Fla./Anclote HS) shared time on the mound against Olivet College in a win that put Northland a 4-3 record in spring season.  The Jacks defeated the Comets 4-3 with two impressive pitching appearances from Freeman and Morales.

Freeman started out the game, allowing only 4 hits during his stint.  Morales closed out the game with 13 batters faced and only allowing 2 hits during his 3.2 innings pitched.

Additional freshmen Jakob Freele (Smartville, CA/Nevada Union HS), Alex Elliott (Middleton, Wis./Middleton HS), Matt Alberino (Medford, Mass./Arlington Catholic) and transfer Luis Victoria (Santo Domingo, DR/Colegio Babeque Secundario) recorded runs for the Jacks, helping in this crucial victory.  The leadership and steady play by Daniel Kollauf (Ashland, Wis./Ashland HS) and Mitchell Howard (Black Earth, Wis./Wisconsin Heights HS) contributed to the win, each recording one RBI.

"The team as a whole are coming together at an unexpected rate.  The young talent as well as returning leaders are learning each other's habits quickly and it's beginning to propel our play to a high level", stated head coach Ernie May.

The Jacks took the lead in the 1st inning with Freele reaching home plate off of a single by Kollauf.  Olivet took advantage of their opportunities in the 2nd inning but Freeman closed out the inning with minimal damage.  Jacks continued to be an offensive threat in the 3rd and 4th innings, adding 3 more run and the Comets attempted a comeback but the game stayed quiet after the 5th inning.  Morales closed out the game and the Jacks gained their fourth win on the season.

The Jacks continue their spring training with an early game on Saturday morning.  They will play Illinois College at 9:00 a.m. (EST).
