FT. MYERS, Fla. - Senior
Logan Schuman (Wild Rose, Wis./Wild Rose HS) showed his experience on the mound Tuesday afternoon by throwing a complete game and helping the Jacks to a 4-2 victory over John Carroll University.
Schuman kept the game close with his pitching and the Jacks and Blue Streaks were scoreless through five innings. Anthony Libertini threw an impressive 7 innings for the Blue Streaks, not allowing any runs.
John Carroll opened the scoring in the 6th inning with 1 run. The Jacks answered back in the 8th inning and took a 2-1 lead.
Mitchell Howard (Black Earth, Wis./Wisconsin Heights HS) singled to right field sending home
Anthony Corrado (Joliet, Ill./Minooka Community HS).
Daniel Kollauf (Ashland, Wis./Ashland HS) followed with an RBI double allowing Howard to showcase his speed to score all the way from first base.
However, the Blue Streaks tied the game at 2 at the bottom of the 8th but
Jacob Hodgdon (Winnebago, Ill./Winnebago HS) came through with a big at bat in the 9th and shifted the momentum in favor of the Jacks. Hodgdon plated the go-ahead run with a single, scoring
Damion Freeman (Sacramento, CA/Inderkum HS). The Jacks added an insurance run on a wild pitch plating Corrado, his second run of the game.
The Jacks go to 1-2 in spring training and will meet Bluffton University at 9:00 a.m. (EST) on Wednesday, March 4th.
