Ashland, Wisc.- The long-awaited rescheduled Finlandia game arrived today, and the LumberJills were ready. The Northland women beat Finlandia University 5-0 for a shut out victory. Senior
Natalie Absil (Grays Lake, Ill.) started the scoring in the fifth minute. The Jills struck again in the 27th minute when
Alexandra Ritchie (Waldo, Wisc.) knocked a goal down and in off the crossbar.
Laura Rethmann (Nashville, Tenn.) put in a goal of her own in the 32nd minute.
To start off the second half, Rethmann put another ball in the back of the net. Sophomore
Madeleine Wieland (Buffalo Grove, Ill.) recorded her eighth goal in three games, as she netted a goal in the 83rd minute. The women were relentless on offense, taking 39 shots, and putting 21 of those on frame. The Jills also did a great job sharing the ball. Wieland recorded two assists today, and
Heather Jensen (Anoka, Minn.) recorded one. The Northland women are back on the field Friday, October 3rd against Minnesota Morris at home. Kickoff is at 2 p.m.
