MORRIS, Minn. - Northland College (12-11, 6-5 UMAC) were able to power their way to a sweep of Minneosta-Morris with finals of 17-7 in 7 innings, and 12-11.

Northland would get out to a fast start in game one putting up three runs in the opening frame.  Matt Lennon would have a two RBI double to score Peter Aerts, and Nathan Brown.  Colin Moberly then would hit a sacrifice fly in the next at bat.  Morris had an answer to this, however, when they were able to plate six runs in the top of the third and take a 6-3 lead.

This lead wouldn't last long as Northland knotted up the score in the bottom half of the third with another three runs.  Lennon hit another double to bring in the first run, and Moberly ripped a single to bring in Travis Hendrickson in the following at bat.  Dan Romano then hit in Lennon with a sacrifice fly.  Morris would have an answer with a run in the next top half, but wouldn't find a way to score the rest of the game.

The Northland fourth saw the LumberJacks put up another three spot on the scoreboard and take a 9-7 lead.  Lennon hit a sacrifice fly to get another run batted in for the game, and Mitchell Howard hit a double to score a pair of runs.  In the fifth inning the Jacks broke the game open when they were able to plate six runs and extend their lead to 15-7.  Brown hit a two RBI single to start the inning, and Hendrickson hit a triple to bring in Brown.  Lennon, Howard, and Moberly each would drive in a run apiece following the triple.  Northland managed to plate a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth to preserve the 17-7 victory in seven innings.

Kyle Strom (2-2) pitched the complete game for the Jacks with four strikeouts.  Matt Lennon went 3x4 with a pair of runs, and a game high seven runs batted in.

Game 1 Box

The Jacks were able to get out to a fast start for game two, and were able to hold off a late Cougar rally to preserve the sweep.  Northland plated six runs in the opening frame to propel them to a 6-2 lead.  Matt Lennon kept his hot hitting up with a base hit to plate a run, and Colin Moberly kept his hot bat going as well with a triple to score two runs.  Peter Aerts hit a single to bring in a run as well, as the Jacks batted around.  The Cougars would consistently put up runs, however, and kept the contest at a 6-4 Northland lead.

Northland extended the lead when they scored four runs in the bottom of the third, and plated another run in the bottom of the fourth to give Northland the 11-4 lead.  Jacob Mogged got in on the action with a two RBI base hit, and Travis Hendrickson had a sacrifice fly to bring in a run.

The scoring would cease until the top of the sixth when Morris would cut the deficit to 11-6 with a pair of runs.  Northland had an answer in the bottom of the seventh as they pushed across a run, which would prove to be the difference in the game.  Peter Aerts started the inning with a single, and was moved over on a hit and run with Nathan Brown at the dish.  Hendrickson then drove Aerts inn with a single.

Morris proved they wouldn't go down without a fight when they scored five runs in the eighth inning, which could've been more had it not been for a great diving play by Cody Leland to end the rally.  Logan Schuman would make sure the ninth would be uneventful shutting the door and giving the Jacks a 12-11 victory.

A.J. Verhage (3-2) got the victory for Northland going 7.1 innings scattering nine hits.  Peter Aerts went 3x5 with two runs scored and a run batted in, while Travis Hendrickson, Colin Moberly, and Jacob Mogged had two runs batted in each.
