TUCSON, Ariz. - Northland College (1-3) would get some production out of their bats, but couldn't find a way to slow down the Wartburg College lineup in an 18-8 loss.
Northland would be able to pound out 13 hits, but the Wartburg line up would be too much for the Jacks' pitching staff. Northland would get on the board first in the top of the second when
Colin Moberly would start the inning off with a double, and later score on a 2 out
Travis Hendrickson single. Wartburg would have an answer scoring a run in the bottom of the inninng, and then take a comfortable lead the next inning when they were able to put up a crooked number.
The Northland bats would go quiet until a rally in the 6th inning brought the Jacks to within three runs of the Knights. The Jacks would score five runs on seven hits over the inning, but Wartburg would have an answer of their own and extend their lead in the bottom half of the inning. Northland would score a pair of runs the next inning as well, but couldn't put up a crooked number to keep them in the game as the Knights would cruise to the 18-8 win.
Travis Hendrickson would go 3x4 in the game with two runs batted in to lead the Jacks' offense.
BOX SCORE
The Jacks will take on Marian University for a twin bill tomorrow with the first pitch of game one scheduled for noon CST.
