ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. – The Northland College Baseball team dropped the opening game in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference series with Crown College 8-0 Friday night in St. Bonifacius, Minn.
The Polars struck early with two runs in the opening inning and would double their lead in the third off a home run.
Jonjay Arreazola led off the fourth inning with a double down the right field line, but was unable to come around to score. In the bottom half of the inning, the Polars had a leadoff walk, but the Jacks turned two and retired the following batter to get out of the inning.
Crown pulled out of reach in the seventh after putting up a four-spot and winning 8-0.
Northland totaled three hits in the loss, with
Nathan Davison and
Jay Harris singling and Arreazola doubling.
Nolan Hemmesch drew both of the LumberJacks' walks.
Dezmon LeTexier started the game on the bump for NC. The senior tossed five innings, giving up three hits and four earned runs.
Josh Wooden pitched the final inning in only six pitches.
The LumberJacks and Polars will play their final games of the series tomorrow (Saturday) with the doubleheader starting at 2:30 p.m.
