LumberJacks drop season opener to Lawrence

ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Lacrosse team fell in its season opener to Lawrence University 24-8 Sunday evening in Ashland, Wis.
 
The Vikings took the early lead, scoring the first goal not even three minutes into the game. Lawrence would then net two more before the five-minute mark. Brodie Trollop would score the first goal of the 2025 season for the Jacks.
 
The second period saw Northland net four goals with Logan Gallagher scoring two and Trollop and George Haigley netting one. The four-goal period was not enough for the Jacks as the Vikings continued to build their lead, scoring seven goals in the second.
 
Despite trailing, Northland was able to score three more times in the second half with Gallagher adding two more to his total and Avrey Roerick scoring the final goal for the Jacks.
 
Trollop and Gallagher led the scoring in the season opener with three goals apiece. Haigley and Roerick also netted one in the contest. Gallagher assisted on a team-high three goals with Roerick and Andrew Study had one assist. Sam Lewis led the team with four groundballs, and Gallagher caused a team-leading three turnovers. In the goal, Elijah Clark made 15 saves.
 
The LumberJacks play next on Wednesday at Concordia University (Wis.) at 3 p.m.
 
Northland College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, WI. The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 14 varsity sports and compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
