First-half struggles give North Central the edge over Northland

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Northland College Women's Basketball team fell 23-64 to North Central University in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play Wednesday night in Minneapolis, Minn.
 
Britta Josephson scored the team's first basket of the game for the LumberJills. In the opening half, Northland struggled to connect from the floor, allowing the Rams to take a 23-point lead into halftime.
 
Kodie Rempp hit the game's first three-pointer early in the second half for Northland's first basket of the third quarter. Rempp connected on another shot, and Leah Allan scored her first point from the free-throw line, which kicked off a six-point Northland rally. Hannah Peel capped off the scoring run with a three-point play.
 
Josephson did most of the scoring in the final quarter, adding eight points. Allan contributed two from the line.
 
Josephson led Northland with 10 points, while Rempp and Allan each added five, and Peel totaled three. Peel also recorded a game-high three assists. Defensively, Rempp and Allan grabbed eight rebounds, with Peel following closely behind with seven. Rempp also had one block in the contest.
 
Northland will be home on Saturday as they host Bethany Lutheran College at 2:45 p.m.
 
Northland College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, WI. The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 14 varsity sports and compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
