ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Men's Basketball team enters the second-to-last week of the regular season as they host the University of Wisconsin-Superior on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. for Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play. Later in the week, the LumberJacks will travel to Crown College on Saturday for a 3 p.m. start.

Last week in conference action, Northland played against North Central University and Bethany Lutheran College. Against the Rams,
Finnley Powell and
Tyler Tuura came off the bench to lead the scoring for the Jacks with 12 and 11 points, respectively. In the following game,
Donovan Washington paced NC with 15 points, and
Stephen Kesti followed with 10.

In his senior season,
Jahlani Thornton leads Northland in points and rebounds. Offensively, he is averaging 10 points per game, ranking 22nd in the UMAC. Defensively, Thornton has 154 rebounds, ranking him 10th all-time for a season at Northland.
Damian Cejka and
Ari Pierson follow Thornton in points, with 9.0 and 7.8 points per game, respectively. Kesti has 20 blocks this season and ranks in the top 10 for both most blocks in a season and career for the LumberJacks.

The Yellowjackets are tied for first in the UMAC with a conference record of 7-3 and are 10-11 overall. Last week, UW-Superior defeated the University of Northwestern 87-78 and Martin Luther College 78-72 in overtime. This season, UWS is averaging 72.3 points per game while holding its opponents to 70.8 ppg. Senior Reid Johnson leads the team in scoring with 16.6 points per game, followed by J'Vaun Walker with 16.1 ppg.

The Polars are 11-10 overall and sit in sixth place in the UMAC with a 4-6 record. Crown lost both contests last week: 82-88 to the University of Minnesota Morris and 79-85 to North Central. The Polars are scoring 79.0 points per game while their opponents average 76.6. Senior Tyrus Buckner is the team's leading scorer with 400 points, ranking third in the conference.
