Northwestern bests Northland

ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Women's Basketball team was defeated 104-30 by the University of Northwestern in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play on Wednesday night in Ashland, Wis.

The Eagles started hot, scoring the first 12 points. A driving layup by Hannah Peel got Northland on the board. Britta Josephson sparked a run for the Jills with back-to-back layups, and Kodie Rempp capped it off with the team's first three-pointer. Hanna Hoskin scored her first basket with a shot behind the arc to cut the lead to five. Rempp added the team's first basket of the quarter with a long two.

Northland struggled to connect in the second and third quarters. Hannah Peel scored four points across the two frames, with Josephson contributing two points to end the third quarter.

The LumberJills began to find some rhythm towards the end of the game. Hoskin hit her second three-pointer to start the scoring in the final frame. Northland went on a four-point run with a jumper from Josephson, and then, after a Lily Zapp steal, Hoskin made a layup. Josephson ended the scoring with a free throw.

Josephson recorded her eighth game in double figures with 11 points to lead Northland. Hoskin finished behind her with eight. Peel and Rempp rounded out the scoring with six and five points, respectively. Peel led the team with three assists. Defensively, Leah Allan grabbed six rebounds, with Rempp adding five.
