ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Men's Basketball team will begin the second half of Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play on Saturday, as they travel to the University of Minnesota Morris for a 1 p.m. game. Earlier in the week, the LumberJacks will host the University of Northwestern at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Last week, when the Jacks hosted North Central University,
Donovan Washington and
Ari Pierson led Northland with 12 points each.
Ryan Ehlert also reached double figures with 10 points. In the following game at Martin Luther College,
Jahlani Thornton had team-highs in both points and rebounds, with 18 points and nine rebounds.

Three student-athletes have scored over 100 points so far this season, with Thornton leading the way with 179 points.
Damian Cejka and Pierson follow with 155 and 121 points, respectively. Pierson also leads Northland with 28 assists. Defensively, Thornton ranks second in the UMAC, averaging 7.7 rebounds per game.
Stephen Kesti has 20 blocks this season, ranking him eighth in a season at Northland, and he is fourth in the conference.

The Eagles are tied with three other teams at the top of the conference with a 4-2 record and are 9-8 overall. In UMAC action, UNW split its games, defeating the University of Wisconsin-Superior 82-72 and then falling to Crown College 94-91. Northwestern is fourth in the conference in scoring and opponent scoring, averaging 79.4 points per game and allowing 77.8 points per game. Junior Japheth Nyamari leads the Eagles, averaging 17.6 points per game. Soren Anderson leads the UMAC with 148 rebounds.

The Cougars are also tied at the top of the conference with a 4-2 record and are 7-10 overall. Minnesota Morris is on a three-game winning streak, having defeated Crown 78-63 and UW-Superior 76-71 in overtime last week. The Cougars average 74.1 points per game, ranking sixth in the UMAC, and are third in the conference, allowing only 76.3 points per game. Senior Pal Dak leads the team with 289 points, with Dom Aguilar behind him with 212. Defensively, Carvin Fish leads the team with 112 rebounds.
