LumberJills drop contest to Bethany Lutheran

MANKATO, Minn. – The Northland College Women's Basketball team was defeated 33-101 by Bethany Lutheran College in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play Saturday evening in Mankato, Minn.

The Vikings opened the game up early with a nine-point rally. After a Northland timeout, Kodie Rempp got the Jills on the board with a driving layup. Rempp's next shot was good as well this time with a turnaround jumper. Hanna Hoskin and Hannah Peel had their first points in the quarter for Northland.

Rempp continued her hot streak, making her first four shots of the game. Peel added two points after the five-minute mark. Britta Josephson got on the board at the end of the quarter with a two-point bucket.

Josephson scored the first NC basket of the second half with a layup, but she was fouled on the play. The sophomore completed the three-point play at the line. Peel ended the scoring for Northland in the half after knocking down a pair of free throws.

Peel started the final quarter the same way she ended the third—by making a free throw. On the following possession, she made a hook shot for three straight points. Hoskin would score Northland's next seven points, including a hook shot, the team's first three-pointer, and a driving layup. Peel ended the scoring for the Jills with points in the paint.

Peel led the scoring with 11 points, marking her fifth game in double figures. Hoskin followed with nine, and Rempp rounded out the top three with eight. Madie Linka recorded the team's only assist. Rempp and Josephson paced NC with five rebounds each, while Rempp had a team-high three assists.

Northland returns home for a 2:45 p.m., game against North Central University on Wednesday.

Northland College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, WI. The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 14 varsity sports and compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
