ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Lacrosse team fell on Senior Day 12-5 to Cornell College in Midwest Lacrosse Conference play Saturday afternoon in Ashland, Wis. Senior Andrew Liwiski scored his first collegiate hat trick.
 
Before the game, eight seniors were recognized for all of their hard work for Northland Men's Lacrosse; Viktory Wennber, Cody Pfaller, Jackson Brenton, Bryson Cecconi, Anden Stroik, Matt Maudsley, Liwiski, and Max Shafer.


 
The Jacks struck first five minutes in with a goal from Brodie Trollop assisted by Liwiski to give the Jacks an early lead. The Rams took the lead off a four-goal run that stretched into the second quarter. Liwiski brought the deficit back to two after a drive to net scoring. A goal on the man advantage put the score to 5-2 in the final minute of the first half.
 
Just like the first half Trollop scored first to cut the Ram's leads. Cornell continued to find the back of the net, taking a six-goal lead into the final quarter. Liwiski scored twice in the final 15 minutes but it was not enough for Northland, as they fell 12-5.
 
Liwiski led the team in points and goals with four and three respectively. The senior scored his first collegiate hat trick on only five shots. Trollop was behind him with two points both from goals. Luke Ballard led the team with 11 groundballs and Logan Gallagher went 6-for-13 in faceoffs.
 
Freshman Alex Walls made his first start in net. Walls made 15 saves and ended the day with a save percentage of .556. Ballard also led the team in caused turnovers with Cecconi behind him with three.
 
The Jacks wrap up their regular season next week when they travel to the University of Northwestern for a 3 p.m., game.
