FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The Northland College Lacrosse team leaves Fond du Lac, Wis., with an 18-11 victory over Marian University in nonconference play Monday evening. Freshman
Logan Gallagher scored a career-high eight goals to help lift the Jacks over the Sabres.
Â
With the win, Northland improves to 3-6 and Marian falls to 1-3 on the season.
Â
This was the most amount of goals the LumberJacks have scored since April 16, 2022, when they defeated North Central University 23-4. This is also the fourth time this season Northland has reached double-digit goals.
Â
After a scoreless seven minutes to start the game, Gallagher breaks the seal with an unassisted goal. The freshman would follow it up with another goal to double the lead two minutes later.
Cody Pfaller and
Brodie Trollop found the back of the net to increase the Northland lead to four. As the period expired Marian scored to make the score 4-1 after the first 15 minutes.
Â
The Sabres cut the lead to two 90 seconds into the second frame. Gallagher buried two more in the net to regain the four-goal advantage. Pfaller also beat the goaltender twice in the second to help Northland go into halftime up 8-5.
Â
In the third quarter, the teams traded off goals with Northland increasing its lead after out-scoring MU 5-4.
George Haigley and
Anden Stroik landed on the scorer's sheet each with a goal in the third. Gallagher continued his tear with his fourth goal.
Â
Gallagher exploded in the final quarter finding the back of the net three times to cap off his eight-goal game. The last eight-goal game came on March 19, 2022, by now head coach
Jakob Wohlford. Just like in the third quarter, the Jacks scored five goals in the fourth with Stroik, and
Avery Roerick rounding out the 18 goals for NC.
Â
To go along with his eight goals, Gallagher assisted on two for Northland's first double-digit point game in two seasons. Trollop finished behind Gallagher with five points from three goals and two assists.
Jackson Breton also finished with two assists.
Â
Tony Donaldson earned his second win of the season, stopping six shots in the victory. Gallagher also led the team defensively as well, with 11 groundballs and three caused turnovers.
Max Shafer,
Bryson Cecconi, and Haigley were behind Gallagher with two caused turnovers.
Â
The Jacks will be back in action in two weeks as they start Midwest Lacrosse Conference play when they host Dubuque University on April 6 at 12 p.m.
