SUPERIOR, Wis. – The Northland College Softball team was defeated 8-0 and 16-0 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play by the University of Wisconsin-Superior in Superior, Wis., on Saturday afternoon.

Over the doubleheader, the LumberJills recorded six hits, three in each game. Freshman
Kennedy Gruhlke led the team with two hits.
Janna Bode and
Lenisa Tomasini had an extra-base hit, while
Elizabeth Montgomery and
Miraya McFall had singles.

McFall pitched a complete game in the opening game tallying three strikeouts. Bode made her collegiate pitching debut going two innings in game two. McFall ended the game only allowing one earned run in the final two innings.

For the Yellowjackets, Emma Pillion and Bella Garley earned wins on the mound.

The Jills will have their home opener next week when they host Bethany Lutheran College for a three-game series starting on Thursday at 4 p.m.
