ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Women's Basketball team fell in its final home game of the season 70-30 to the University of Wisconsin-Superior Tuesday night in Ashland, Wis., in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play. The LumberJills had their best quarter of the season to wrap up the game with 17 points.

The Yellowjacket struck first but it was not long until
Tara Sandoval tied the game on a jumper assisted by
Kodie Rempp. On the following possession, six three Charlotte Ferstl went up for a layup and was stuffed by
Jojo Lowmaster. The game was knotted a two for a while with neither team gaining the early edge, until UWS knocked down back-to-back three-pointers to start to pull away. Lowmaster ended the 10-point run with a made free throw, which was followed up with
Madison Mendoza scoring in the paint. After the first half, UW-Superior was up 14-5.

The Yellowjackets had their best quarter with 24 points to pull away from Northland. Rempp had the first LumberJill basket of the second frame with a jumper in the paint. Sandoval scored Northland's first triple of the game soon after and
Shelby Justman ended the scoring with a free throw.

The Jills had a quiet third quarter with Sandoval recording the sole basket from a layup.

In the final quarter, NC bounced back and had its best performance of the season dropping 17 points. Lowmaster started the scoring layups on back-to-back looks. That was shortly followed by three three-pointers, two from Sandoval and one from Rempp. In the final minute, Sandoval scored on a driving layup and Mendoza capped off the game with two made free throws. The Jills outscored the Yellowjackets 17-to-13 in the quarter.

Sandoval led the team in scoring with 15 points, nine coming from behind the arc. Rempp and Lowmaster were behind her with five points. Lowmaster was a perfect 2-of-2 from the floor. Mendoza recorded four points and Justman rounded out the scoring with one. Rempp led the team with three rebounds.

On the glass, Northland totaled 33 rebounds, including five offensive. Sandoval paced the team with eight boards. Lowmaster tallied six and Mendoza and
Ellie Kracht grabbed five. The Jills had four steals one coming from a different student-athlete: Sandoval, Mendoza, Kracht, and
Britta Josephson. Lowmaster and Rempp also tallied a block in the contest.

The Jills hit the road for weekend action as they travel to Crown College on Friday for a 5:30 tip, followed by a 3 p.m., the following day at the University of Minnesota, Morris.
