Rams best LumberJills on Senior Day

ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Women's Basketball team was defeated 38-76 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon by North Central University in Ashland, Wis.
 
The Rams started fast scoring eight unanswered. Tara Sandoval scored the first Northland basket from the line. After a pair of offensive rebounds Kodie Rempp doubled the Jills' score with a two-point jumper. To end the quarter Sandoval converted on a jumper but NCU had pulled away to a 12-point lead after the first 10 minutes.
 
Madison Mendoza started the second quarter with a quick steal and fed Shelby Justman for the opening points of the quarter. Shortly after Sandoval made NC's first three-pointer. Britta Josephson got into the score's book with a layup. Mendoza started her career-high-scoring game with a free throw.
 
Just like how the first half ended Mendoza knocks down a free throw to start the second. She then found herself at the line and converted on the pair. Jojo Lowmaster grabbed an offensive board and put it back for two. Sandoval made her second three of the game, followed by Rempp assisting on a Mendoza layup.
 
Mendoza did a lot of her work in the paint with drive layup resulting in buckets or her a trip to the line and the trend continued into the final quarter. Rempp forced a turnover and scored on the fast break. Sandoval ended the scoring with a triple to end the game 76-38.
 
Sandoval put up double-figures to lead the team with 15 points. Mendoza was right behind her breaking into double-digits for the first time this season with 11. Rempp had six and Justman, Lowmaster and Josephson rounded out the scoring each with a pair.
 
The Jills had their second-highest rebound game with 36 and tied their most offensive rebounds at 10 and everyone on the team had at least two. Rempp snagged nine with two offensive and seven defensive. Josephson led the team with three offensive boards to bring her total to five.
 
The Jills play their final home game on Tuesday when they host the University of Wisconsin-Superior at 5 p.m.
