Northland plays Marian in its final home game of 2024

ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Men's Basketball team plays Marian University in its final home game of 2024 on Friday at 3:30 P.M. The following day the LumberJacks travel to Marquette Mich., for an exhibition with Northern Michigan University.

Northland played the University of Wisconsin-Stout and Michigan Technical University in non-conference games last week. Against the Blue Devils, Ari Pierson led the Jacks with 16 points and Jahlani Thornton grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds. At MTU Gavin Bartlett and Ian McFaggen came off the bench to pace the NC offensively.
 
Thornton leads the Jacks in points and rebounds this season at 85 and 67 respectively. Damian Cejka is behind him in points with 71 and Bartlett rounds out the top three with 62. Pierson has a team-high 17 assists in his first season with Northland. Stephen Kesti has a team-leading seven blocks.
 
After going 5-20 last year the Sabres are undefeated with a 10-0 record and are 4-0 in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference action. On Wednesday, Marian topped Edgewood College 72-45 on the road. MU has three student-athletes averaging double-figures: Brandon Adorno (14.6), Sam Gingras (10.9), and Andrew Ayeni (10.8). On the other side of the ball, Alex Vassilakis paces the team with 82 rebounds.
 
Northland College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, WI. The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 14 varsity sports and compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference, Midwest Lacrosse Conference, and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
