Josephson records first collegiate double-double at Mount Mary

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Northland College Women's Basketball team batted but fell short 66-51 to Mount Mary University Saturday afternoon in Milwaukee, Wis. Sophomore Britta Josephson recorded her first collegiate double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Josephson won the tip, which led to Hanna Hoskin's three-pointer seven seconds in. On the next drive, Hannah Peel connected from deep with Saleen Thepmontry assisting on the make. The Blue Angles matched the pace of Northland and didn't miss in their first four shots. After the quick start, the Jills were held at six for six minutes. Peel snapped the dry spell with her second made three. Kodie Rempp converted from deep for her first points of the game. Before the quarter was up Northland made its fifth three with Rempp's second in under a minute.

After only making three-pointers, the LumberJills found success in the paint with Josephson scoring after grabbing an offensive rebound and then a driving layup from Peel to force a MMU timeout. With four minutes left, Thepmontry made a long two to cut the lead to single digits. The Blue Angles would rally back with a 7-to-1 run. Peel had the next points for NC with another driving layup, but couldn't complete the three-point play. The basket was the final of the quarter, that saw Mount Mary up 13 at the half.

It was a low-scoring third quarter with no team able to get separation or bring the score closer. The Blue Angles went up 16 after a three-pointer, but Northland would rally to cut the lead back to 11 after a Peel layup. Late in the quarter, MMU would hit another three-ball to get its biggest lead at 18.

Josephson had the first points for Northland in the final quarter after grabbing an offensive board. At 4:21 Josephson makes a layup to earn her first collegiate double-double. Hoskin connected from deep again bringing her total to eight points. Rempp drew a foul and went 2-for-2 at the line to reach double figures. Peel scored the final points of the game after a Hoskin steal.

Peel led the team with 16 points with Josephson and Rempp also reaching double figures in 14 and 10 points respectively. Hoskin added eight points and Thepmontry chipped in three. Peel assisted on a team-high six assists and had six rebounds. Josephson had a career-high 12 rebounds to record her first double-double. Hoskin was behind her with 10 and Rempp was one rebound shy of a double-double with nine.
