Bartlett and McFaggen come off the bench to lead Jacks at Michigan Tech.

HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Northland College Men's Basketball team was defeated by Division II Michigan Technical University 106-43 Saturday evening in Houghton, Mich. Freshmen Gavin Bartlett and Ian McFaggen both came off the bench to lead the LumberJacks in scoring.
 
After the Jacks were held without a basket for the opening three minutes, Bartlett was subbed in and made the team's first bucket with a two-point jumper. The Huskies started the pull away a three-pointer from Bartlett brought the lead back to five. Northland's offense then went quiet as MTU built a double-digit lead. Ryan Ehlert got into the scorer's sheet after connecting on a deep ball. The Huskies continued to pull ahead. A layup from Stephen Kesti after grabbing his own miss stopped the rally. As time was expiring Bartlett hit another three-ball to end the half.
 
Ari Pierson started the scoring in the second half for Northland with a jump shot. Soon after Damian Cejka got on the board with two points. McFaggen scored all his points in the second half, starting with a triple, assisted by Aveion Cavitt. Three drives later, McFaggen found himself at the line and went 2-for-3. To end the game, McFaggen scored the team's final five points, ending with a layup in the paint.
 
Bartlett and McFaggen paced the team with 10 points. Pierson rounded out the top three with six. On the glass, Kesti and Jahlani Thornton led the Jacks with five and four rebounds respectively. Thornton also had the team's sole block.
 
The Jacks return home next week when they host Marian University on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
