LumberJacks host UW-Stout on Wednesday then travel to Michigan Tech for a Saturday game

ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Men's Basketball team has its second home game of the season on Wednesday when it hosts the University of Wisconsin-Stout at 7 p.m. To end the week, the LumberJacks travel to Houghton, Mich., for a 4 p.m. tipoff with Michigan Technological University.

Northland traveled to Winona, Minn., last week for a non-conference game against St. Mary's University. The Jacks started slow going 0-for-9 to start the game. In the second half, the production picked up but could not come back, falling 66-81. Three LumberJacks reached double figures: Damian Cejka (15), Jahlani Thornton (13), and Iansan Simpson (10).
 
Thornton paces the team with 11.1 points per game and 6.9 rebounds per game, leading NC in both categories. Cejka is behind him with 8.6 ppg and Simpson and Gavin Bartlett have come off the bench to spark the offense with 7.6 and 6.8 ppg respectively. Ari Pierson has assisted on a team-high 14 baskets and Stephen Kesti has blocked six shots.
 
The Blue Devils started the season going 0-6 but last week won over St. Mary's and North Central University for a 2-6 record. UW-Stout won big over SMU, 83-65, and then came back from down eight at half to beat the Rams 69-65. Jacob Walczak leads UWS with 114 points on the season and has surpassed 20 points in the last three games.
 
The Huskies are 6-3 on the season and are currently on a four-game winning streak. Last week MTU started Great Lake Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play, topping the University of Wisconsin-Parkside 80-54 and Purdue University Northwest 92-59. Junior Marcus Tomashek is averaging a team-high 24.1 ppg with his best game coming against Minnesota State University Moorhead where he scored 40.
