MANKATO, Minn. – The Northland College Volleyball team was defeated 3-0 (23-25, 10-25, 15-25) to Bethany Lutheran College in Upper Midwest Athltic Conference play Friday night in Mankato, Minn.

The opening set was tight between the Jills and Vikings.
Britta Josephson scored the first point Northland with
Lily Zapp assisting the point. BLC led 4-9 but Northland leveled the scored scoring the next five points with kills coming from
Ellison DeZwarte and
Kennedy Gruhlke. Josephson gave NC its first lead at 14-13 with another kill. Points continued to trade until 23-22 after a
Hannah Peel kill assisted by
Kodie Rempp. The Vikings scored the next three points to take the set.

Set two started with a few points traded. The Vikings scored nine points in a row to go up eight. The lead was too much for Northland to overcome and dropped the second set 10-25.

Set three started with a kill from Josephson. BLC had the next three points, followed by kills from Josephson and
Leah Allan to scored level the score at three. The Jills matched the pace of the Vikings until 8-9. Bethany Lutheran started to pull away and took the set 25-15.

Josephson led Northland with 11 kills in the match. Leah and Gruhlke tallied six and four respectively to round out the top three. Peel had two kills in the match and Rempp, Zapp, and DeZwarte all had one. Rempp assisted on 20 points. Defensively, Allan pace NC with 25 digs. Gruhlke, Josephson, and Pell all recached double digit digs. Gruhlke and DeZwarte combined for two blocks.

Northland ends its season tomorrow (Saturday) as they play Martin Luther College at 11 a.m., in New Ulm, Minn.
