Jacks held off the board against the Gusties

ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Men's Hockey team was held off the scoreboard for the first time this season as they were defeated 5-0 by Gustavus Adolphus College Tuesday night in Ashland, Wis.
 
Northland's senior goaltender Dakota Meyer saved four shots before the Jacks tallied their first. Freshman Brock Hart had the first shot on frame for NC just over four minutes in. Nearing the end of the opening period the Gusties were on a power play. Northland killed off the power play with GAC only recording three shots. Though seconds after the man advantage ended Gustavus scored the opening goal.
 
Gustavus continued to grow its lead with a power-play goal three minutes into the second period. Before the period was up the Gusties had a 4-0 advantage. The shots on target in the second period were even at 13 but Northland still remained scoreless.
 
The final period had the fewest shots in the game with the Gusties totaling seven and the Jacks having four. Midway through the period GAC scored its final goal of the game and won 5-0.
 
The LumberJacks had 23 shots on target with Nik Johnson pacing the team with six. Ethan Rubin and Brock Hart were not far behind with three. The Jacks defense blocked 14 with freshman Mac Reed leading the way with three. On special teams, NC was 3-of-5 on the penalty kill and 0-for-3 on the power play. Meyer ended the game with 31 saves.
 
The Jacks return to Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Dec. 6 when they travel to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire for a 7 p.m., puck drop.
