DULUTH, Minn. – The Northland College Men's Basketball team was defeated in a non-conference game 85-49 by the College of St. Scholastica Wednesday night in Duluth, Minn.

The Saints started on a 4-0 run before Northland had its first shot of the game.
Damian Cejka had the first made basket for NC with a jumper in the paint. On the following drive,
Gavin Bartlett connected on a jump shot to keep the lead at two for CSS. The Saints began to build their lead after going on an 18-to-3 rally including three three-pointers. The Jacks struggled offensively only shooting 22.6 percent in the first half while CSS ended the half at 48.6 percent resulting in a 45-18 lead for the Saints.

The second half was much better for the Jacks shooting 40 percent from the field but the 27-point lead was too much to come back from.

Cejka led Northland offensively, with 11 points after going 5-for-12 from the field and 1-for-5 from three. After being held to two points in the opening half
Jahlani Thornton had eight points in the second half. 11 LumberJacks ended the game with points including
Ian McFaggen,
Ryan Ehlert, and
Finnley Powell who all scored their first collegiate points in the game.
Defensively,
Stephen Kesti grabbed a team-high nine rebounds with Thornton two behind him with eight. The duo also both blocked a shot.

The Jacks travel to St. Cloud State University on Saturday for a 1 p.m., game in St. Cloud, Minn.
