ST. PAUL, Minn.– The Northland College Volleyball team was bested 3-0 (12-25, 12-25, 11-25) to No. 12 University of Northwestern in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon in St. Paul, Minn.

Northland had its hands full entering this match with Northwestern who was ranked 12
th in the most recent American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, along with that the Eagles have not lost a set in conference play since 2022.

The Jills put up a valiant effort against the top team in the UMAC but could not match the pace of the Eagles. Northwestern pulled out to an early lead in all three sets and was too far for Northland to catch. In the third set, Northland scored the first two points with
Britta Josephson scoring off the service for one of them. The lead was short-lived as UNW went on an 11-to-1 run. That led the Eagles to take the final set 25-11.

Josephson and
Leah Allan led the Northland offense with 32 and 31 total attacks in the match respectively. Josephson had a team-high nine kills with Allan behind her with six.
Ellison DeZwarte and
Kennedy Gruhlke also recorded a kill in the match. The LumberJills had two service aces coming from Josephson and Allan.
Kodie Rempp assisted on 16 kills.

Just like on offense, Josephson and Allan pace NC with nine and seven digs in the match. Gruhlke and
Hannah Peel were not far behind with four. Northland recorded one block in the match coming on an assisted block from Rempp and
Lily Zapp in the third set.

Northland returns to Ashland on Friday when they host Martin Luther College at 7 p.m.
