Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Northland becomes the second UMAC team to score on UW-Superior

ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Men's Soccer team was bested 15-1 by the University of Wisconsin-Superior in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference action Wednesday night in Ashland, Wis. The Northland goal was only the second that UWS had allowed from a conference opponent.

The Yellowjackets were awarded a penalty in the fourth minute of play and converted it for their first goal. UW-Superior continued to roll, and the lead continued to balloon. In the second half, the LumberJacks drew a free kick right outside of the penalty box. Freshman Noah Del Vecchio took the free kick, sent the ball over the wall, and beat the goalie to get Northland on the scoreboard.

Del Vecchio had the Jacks' sole shot in the game. Goalkeeper Rodrigo Chavez was heavily tested in the net where he made a season-high 22 saves.

Northland ends its 2024 season at the University of Northwestern on Saturday with a 4:30 p.m., kickoff.

Northland College is an NCAA Division III institution located in Ashland, WI. The LumberJacks and LumberJills sponsor 14 varsity sports and compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference, Midwest Lacrosse Conference, and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
