Josephson tallies a double-double with 14 kills and 16 digs against the Rams

ASHLAND, Wis.– The Northland College Volleyball team fell 0-3 (16-25, 17-25, 22-25) to North Central University in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference action Friday night in Ashland, Wis. Sophomore Britta Josephson tallied her second career double-double with 14 kills and 16 digs.
 
Leah Allan started the match with a kill for the first point with Kodie Rempp assisting her. Another kill from Allan had NC up 4-1 early. After a service ace from Kennedy Gruhlke and Josephson's first kill of the match, the LumberJills retook their three-point lead. The Rams answered back with a 10-to-1 rally to take their first lead. The seven-point deficit was too much for Northland as they dropped the opening set 15-25.
 
The Rams started set two fast going up five points off the first nine. Northland cut the lead to one after three kills from Josephson and a kill and ace from Gruhlke. North Central strung together a few more runs and took set 17-25.
 
After dropping the first two points, Northland responded by scoring five in a row with a kill from Josephson and an ace from Allan. Lily Zapp tallied her first kill of the match to put the Jills up 9-to5, their largest of the set. NC held the lead up to 14 points but NCU rallied with three points taking its first lead since the first two points. Northland continued to match the pace and cut the led to 22-24 but dropped the final set 25-22.
 
Josephson lead Northland offensively and defensively, with 14 kills, and 16 digs, her second match this season in double figures. Allan finished behind her with seven kills and Rempp totaled two to round out the top three. Gruhlke, Zapp, and Ellison DeZwarte also recorded a kill in the match. Rempp assisted on 20 kills and Hannah Peel had two assists. Northland scored off the serve three times, twice from Gruhlke and one from Allan. Behind Josephson in digs were Gruhlke and Allan with 15 and 11 respectively. At the net, the LumberJills totaled three blocks two solos from Josephson and Allan and an assisted block by Josephson and Zapp.
 
Northland hosts its final home match of the season tomorrow (Saturday) against No. 18 University of Northwestern at 1 p.m.
