No.1 UW-River Falls completes the sweep over LumberJills

ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Women's Hockey team dropped the series finale 8-1 to No.1 University of Wisconsin-River Falls Saturday afternoon in Ashland, Wisconsin.
 
In all three games this season the LumberJills have found the back of the net against the top team in Division III.
 
The Falcons picked up where they left off from the previous game scoring two goals in the first three minutes. They were not done adding three more before the end of the first. The LumberJills got on the board with a goal from Lauren Klein getting the assist from Kennedy Gruhlke.
 
In the second period, the Jills held the Falcons off the board with a big part from Corrin Hanson who tallied 18 saves. Taylor Richmond led the Northland offense with two shots in the second period.
 
The Falcons had a huge third period recording 37 shots on goal. Hanson stopped 34 to end the game with 67 saves. Northland had three shots in the final period from Audrey Ellerington, Hannah Baumann, and Kyleigh Moffatt.
 
Northland tallied 13 shots in the loss. Richmond led the team with four, two in the first and two in the second. Klein scored her second goal of the season and Gruhlke picked up her second assist.
 
Hanson set a career-high with 67 saves. The defense blocked eight shots with Jamie Steinmetz blocking two.
 
The Jills are on the road next week when they travel to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point for a two-game series starting at 7 p.m., on Friday.
