ST. PAUL, Minn.--- The Northland College Baseball team continued their series with Northwestern MN this afternoon in a UMAC double-header at Reynolds Field in St. Paul, MN. The Jacks, who needed to win today to keep their playoff hopes alive, did just that, sweeping the Eagles 3-2 (11 innings) and 4-2. 
Game 1
Andrew Birko got the nod on the mound for the Jacks in game one and was pitching a gem early. The Jacks opened the scoring in the top of the third inning as 
Zach Ross hammered a 2 rbi double to left center, scoring 
Keaton Arreazola and 
Zack Nelson to give the Jacks a 2-0 lead. UNW tied the game in the bottom of the 7th inning, scoring two runs to make it 2-2. 
Peyton Solberg, who came in for relief, also pitched well, and either team was able to score as game one would need extra innings. The Jacks broke through the 2-2 deadlock in the top of the 11th inning as 
Zach Ross continued his strong day at the plate, hitting a sac fly to left field, scoring 
Hunter Wicklund to give the Jacks a 3-2 lead. Solberg put down the UNW lineup in order in the bottom of the 11th inning as the Jacks took game one, 3-2. 
Solberg picked up the win in game one, pitching 4 innings in relief giving up 0 runs on 1 hit. Birko, who started today for the Jacks, pitched a solid 7 innings, giving up 2 runs on 8 hits. 
Hunter Wicklund led all LumberJacks in game one with two hits. 
Game 2
The LumberJacks continued their momentum from game one into game two today as 
Ridge Guyette singled to right center in the top of the third, scoring 
Keaton Arreazola. The Jacks made it 2-0 in the top of the fourth inning as 
Hunter Wicklund scored on a throwing error to extend the LumberJack lead. After a UNW run in the bottom of the inning, the Jacks added a run of their own in the 5th as Solberg doubled to right center, scoring Guyette to make it 3-1. The Jacks added an insurance run in the top of the 6th as 
Parker Williams singled to right field, scoring Wicklund to make it 4-1. 
Zack Nelson, who came in to pitch relief for the Jacks in the bottom of the 6th, also pitched well for the Jacks. UNW was able to add a run in the bottom of the 9th but it wouldn't be enough as the Jacks came away with the 4-2 victory in game two to earn the sweep today.

Hunter Wicklund led all LumberJacks with two hits in game two. 
Kazdion Mount picked up the win today for the Jacks going 4.0 innings, giving up 1 run on 5 hits. Nelson pitched 5 innings in relief, giving up 1 run on 4 hits. 
The Jacks will travel to New Ulm, MN on Tuesday (May 2nd) in a must win game against Martin Luther College. Game time is set to start at 1pm.
