ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn.--- The Northland College Softball team continued their weekend set of games in St. Bonifacius, MN today against North Central MN and Northwestern MN. The Jills exploded for 18 runs in the bottom of the first inning to go on to beat North Central 24-7 in game one before falling in a nail biter, 3-2 against Northwestern MN.
Game 1
North Central opened the scoring with two runs in the top of the first inning but the lead wouldn't last for long as the Jills nearly batted through the entire order three times in the bottom of the first, exploding for 18 runs on 12 hits and 6 North Central errors.
Ariana Wilson had 4 rbi's in the inning. The Jills continued to score runs in the 3rd and 4th innings as
Hailey Minnema and
Elizabeth Peters collected rbi hits to extend the LumberJill lead to 24-4. The Rams added runs in the 5th but it wouldn't be enough as the Jills took game one 24-7 over North Central.
Every LumberJill in the lineup had at least one hit in game one. Peters led all LumberJills going 4-5 at the plate.
Kaylee Harnack and Minnema each collected three hits. Peters, Wilson and Minnema each had 4 rbi's for the Jills.
Kayla Preisler pitched 5.0 innings, giving up 6 earned runs on 9 hits and struck out 7 batters.
Game 2
Northwestern opened today's game scoring a run in the bottom of the first but the Jills scored two of their own in the top of the second to take the lead as
Kayla Preisler hit into a fielder's choice, scoring
Ariana Wilson. Later in the inning,
Hailey Minnema had an rbi hit, scoring Peters to give the Jills the 2-1 lead. Northwestern was able to re-take the lead, scoring two runs in the bottom of the inning making it a 3-2 ball game. The Jills struggled to get runners into scoring position in the final innings and eventually fell to the Eagles 3-2.
Wilson pitched tremendously for the Jills in game two going 6.0 innings, giving up 3 runs on 10 hits.

The Jills are back in action this Wednesday as they travel back down to St. Bonifacius for a UMAC doubleheader against Crown College. Game one is set to start at 3:30pm.
