MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.---- The Northland College Softball team continued their non-conference schedule this afternoon in Minneapolis, MN in a double header against Augsburg University. The Jills fell in both games by scores of 9-1 & 12-2.
Game 1
After giving up the opening run in the bottom of the first,
Alison Murphy got the Jills on the board after
Elizabeth Peters stole second on a throwing error to tie the game 1-1. After allowing three runs in the bottom of the second, the two teams went three scoreless innings before Augsburg exploded for 5 runs in the bottom of the 6th to take game 1, 9-1 over the Jills. The Jills were unable to get any hits in game one as Brynn Hostettler through a no-hitter in the circle for Augsburg.
Game 2
Augsburg continued the momentum in game two, scoring runs through the first four innings to take the 12-0 lead. The Jills continued to fight in the top of the 5th inning as
Hailey Minnema doubled to left field, scoring Peters to make it 12-1.
Janna Bode later singled, scoring Minnema but the rally wouldn't be enough as the Jills fell in game two,12-2.
McKenna Freerksen led all LumberJills with two hits in game two.
The Jills are back in action next Wednesday as they travel to Rosemount, MN to take on Concordia Minnesota. Game 1 is set to start at 2PM.
