Jacks Stay Hot at Home in 7-5 Win Over UNW

ASHLAND, Wis.--- The Northland College Men's Lacrosse team hosted Northwestern MN this afternoon at Ponzio Stadium in a non-conference matchup. The Jacks came away victorious, winning 7-5 over the Eagles.

Both the Jacks and Eagles flexed their muscles on defense early in today's game as Northwestern finally broke through the tie with seconds remaining in the first to take the early 1-0 lead. The Jacks finally got on the board 7 minutes in the second as Cody Pfaller found the back of the net. He was assisted by Brodie Trollop. Northwestern retook the lead minutes later before back to back goals from the Jacks scored by Phil Peacy and Trollop to give the Jacks the 3-2 lead into the half. 

The Jacks continued the momentum in the second half scoring three straight goals from Matt Maudsley, Kyle Parker and Peacy to make it 6-2. Peacy scored his third goal of the game in the 4th, making it a 7-3 game. Northwestern would however rally, scoring two quick goals halfway through the 4th but it wouldn't be enough as the Jacks took the match 7-5 over UNW. 

Northland out-shot UNW 26-24 today. Northland goalie, Tony Donaldson made 10 saves in today's win for the Jacks.

The Jacks continue their home stand this Saturday (March 25th) as they host Concordia University Chicago at Ponzio Stadium. Game time is set for 12pm.
