RHINELANDER, Wis.--- The Northland College Softball team traveled to Rhinelander, WI this weekend to open the 2023 season against Ripon College, St. Scholastica and Marian University at the Pointer Dome Classic. The Jills dropped a pair of games on Saturday against Ripon (9-1) and St. Scholastica (11-0) and dropped two more Sunday against Marian (6-2) and Ripon (10-4).
Ripon Box Score
After a scoreless first, Ripon struck first scoring a run in the bottom of the second to take the 1-0 lead.
Lenisa Tomasini singled to right first in the 4th inning, scoring
Ariana Wilson to tie the game at 1. Going into the bottom of the fourth inning, Wilson had a two hitter going in the circle for the Jills but the bats came alive for Ripon in the bottom of the fourth, scoring 8 runs to take the game 9-1 over the Jills.

St. Scholastica Box Score
In game two, Kayle Preisler would get the nod in the circle for the Jills. The Jills struggled to get anything going offensively and some timely hitting for the Saints, scoring a run in the first and 6 more in the second take the early 7-0 lead. Wilson came in to pitch in relief for the Jills but the bats would remain cold, falling in five innings to the Saints 11-0.
Wilson had the lone hit in game two for the Jills.
Marian Box Score
The LumberJills collected 8 hits in game 3 but Marian Scored two runs in the first, three in the third and added another run in the fifth inning to take the 6-0 lead after 5. In the top of the 7th,
Janna Bode collected an rbi single, scoing
Alison Murphy to make it 6-1. Later in the inning,
Lenisa Tomasini singled, scoring
Kaylee Harnack to make it 6-2 but the comeback would fall short as the Jills fell to the Sabres 6-2.
Kaylee Harnack led all LumberJills at the plate going 3 X 4.
Ripon Box Score
The LumberJills struck first against Ripon as
Janna Bode singled to shortstop and
Kaylee Harnack scored after a throwing error to make it 1-0. In the bottom of the second with two outs, Harnack blasted 2 run home run, scoring
Hailey Minnema to make it 3-0 for the Jills. Ripon responded with two runs in the top of the third inning but the Jills responded with a run of their own after a
Kayla Preisler sac fly, scoring Tomasini to then make it 4-2 for the Jills. The score remained the same until the bottom of the sixth as Ripon went on to score four runs and added three more in the seventh to take the game 10-4 over the Jills.
Harnack, Tomasini and Wilson each had two hits in the game.
The Jills are back in action March 2-3 as they travel to Peoria, IL to take on Mount Mary University and Loras College.
