WAUKESHA, Wis.--- The Northland College Lacrosse team opened the 2023 season this afternoon in Waukesha, WI against Carroll University. The Jacks, who dominated the shot total all game, let their late lead slip away as Carroll tied the game with 4 seconds left in regulation and scored the game winner in overtime to take today's match over the Jacks 7-6.

After two quick goals in the first quarter,
Jackson Breton scored a man up goal to cut the lead in half. The score remained the same until the 6' mark of the second as
Kyle Parker scored his first goal as a LumberJack to tie the game at two. Minutes later, Parker netted his second goal with a man up to give the Jacks the 3-2 lead into half time.
The second half was a wild-back and forth battle until the end as Carroll opened the half with two goals to take the 4-3 lead.
Phil Peacy tied the game late in the third to make it 4-4. He was assisted by Parker on the goal. With time winding down in the 4th, Carroll found an opening to make it 5-4. With time running out in the match, the Jacks finally broke through as
Brodie Trollop found the back of the net to tie the game 5-5. Seconds later it was Trollop again to give the Jacks the 6-5 lead with only 23 seconds remining. He was assisted on both goals by Parker. Just as it looked as the Jacks were able to come away with the win, Carroll was able to go down and score with 4 seconds left to tie the game 6-6 to force overtime. After an early turnover in overtime by the Jacks, Carroll was able to break the tie, scoring shortly into overtime to take the game 7-6 over the Jacks.
The Jacks out-shot Carroll 39-21 in the game.
Kyle Parker led the Jacks offensively, scoring 2 goals and added 3 assists for 5 points.
Luke Ballard played strong defensively for the LumberJacks with 6 caused turnovers.
Tony Donaldson made 6 saves in today's loss.
The LumberJacks are back in action next Saturday (March 4th) as the host Beloit College. Game time is set for 12pm at Ponzio Stadium.
