DULUTH, Minn. – The Northland College Men's Hockey team was unsuccessful in getting the split with the College of Saint Scholastica falling 8-1 in Duluth, Minn., Friday night.
After an early goal from the Saints,
Andrew Yocum kept CSS out for the remainder of the period. The Jacks were unable to get a shot off until they were on the powerplay. With their third shot on the powerplay,
Brandon Holt brought the Jacks level getting an assist from
Kenny Styles and
Jackson Breton.
The remaining two periods did not favor Northland getting outshot 18-to-35 and giving up seven more goals ending the home-and-home series 8-1 in favor of the Saints.
The Jacks were held to only 21 shots in the game, third-fewest on the season. In the second period despite not landing any in the back of the net, Northland had its most shots at 10 with Styles and
Josh Kingsbury both tallying two in the period. Styles led the team in shots with four.
Yocum in net 37 saves for the Jacks.
The Jacks end the 2023 calendar year with a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference at the University of Wisconsin-Superior tomorrow (Saturday) at 7 p.m.
