ASHLAND, Wis. – In the final week of the season the Northland College Volleyball team fell 3-1 (25-27, 18-25, 25-20, 17-25) to Bethany Lutheran College in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play Friday night in Ashland, Wis. The LumberJills fought hard but were unable to come away with the win to keep them in the playoff hunt.

Northland started the match out hot scoring the first three points, coming off a service error and kills from
Bailey Wynn and
Kodie Rempp. Following that BLC scored five unanswered then the teams traded off points for the rest of the match. The Vikings were up 20-14 nearing the end of the first set but Northland started to chip away at the lead. After three unanswered from NC capped off with a kill from Rempp the lead was three. Then the Jills retook the lead at 24-23 with a service ace from
Alexa Zadra. Northland fell in the first set after Bethany Lutheran scored three in a row to win the first set 27-25.

The Jills found themselves down early in the first set, after a few runs by BLC the Vikings were up 12-5. Northland pulled within four a few times with an ace from
Ellie Kracht and Kill form
Britta Josephson but were unable to close the gap, dropping set two 18-25.

The start of set three only saw one team score back-to-back points in the first 14 rallies resulting in a score of 7-7 early on. Northland broke away with a run of four points with
Elizabeth Montgomery and Wynn recording kills. The Vikings pulled within one at 11-12 but the Jills regained their lead scoring the next four points ending with a kill from Josephson to go up 16-11. As the LumberJills inched closer to 25 Bethany Lutheran was right on their tails cutting the lead to 23-20., but with NC scoring the next two points Northland won set three 25-20.

Northland took an early lead in set four going up 5-3 with Wynn scoring two of the Jills' five points. The lead traded a few more times but the set was tied at 10 with Northland scoring the two in a row. That was the closest NC would be to taking the lead back with BLC scoring eight unanswered. Northland started to chip away but could not catch up falling 25-17 in the final set.

Wynn set a season-high 16 kills in the four-set match and recorded six in the third set. This was her 12
th match with double-digit kills. Also reaching double figures was Josephson with 10. Meagan Van Gheem and Rempp set up the LumberJills' attack with Gheem leading the duo with 24 assists. Northland had five service aces in the match with Wynn tallying two.

Wynn also led on the defensive side of the ball with 22 digs. Zadra was one behind her with 21.
Annika Herlevi and Rempp followed behind with 16 and 10 respectively. Montgomery had the only block in the match for NC coming in the third set.

The Jills wrap up their season on Saturday as they host Martin Luther College at 11 a.m., for Senior Day.
