ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Volleyball team ended its 2023 season with a three-set victory (25-15, 25-16, 28-26) over Martin Luther College in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play Saturday morning in Ashland, Wis. Senior
Bailey Wynn recorded a career-high 20 kills to end her career at Northland College.

In the final game of the season, seven seniors were honored before the game: Wynn,
Ellie Kracht,
Elizabeth Montgomery,
Alexa Zadra,
Megan Van Gheem,
Madi Owens and
Annika Herlevi. All seven seniors started all three sets.

In her first season as head coach Hope Neargarder led the LumberJills to a record of 9-15 overall and a 5-9 in the UMAC.

The first set went in the way of the LumberJills scoring the first four points with Wynn recording three kills. Northland then went on a six-point run with Zadra scoring three service aces. The LumberJills continued to pad their lead with another six unanswered to go up 19-8. Northland plowed through the rest set winning 25-15.

Set two started off with a few traded points before the Jills went on a seven-point run. To end the run Van Gheem scored a rare kill. Zadra recorded her fourth service ace to propel the Jills to 16-10. A pair of kills from Wynn and a kill from Kracht brought NC up 20-11.
Kodie Rempp scored the 25 point in the set for Northland to win 25-16.

Set three was tight for the whole set. The largest lead was four points at 6-2 for MLC. With it being a close set the first time the Jills tied the match was at 10-10 from a kill by Wynn. Wynn recorded her 20
th kill of the match to give Northland their first lead at 25-24. To end the match NC scored three in a row with a kill from Montgomery and two aces from Van Gheem.

Wynn finished the match hitting .319 scoring on 20 of her 47 attacks. Wynn also had eight digs and the only block in the match.
Britta Josephson led the NC hitting .526 for 10 kills. In their final game as a LumberJills Montgomery tallied five kills and four digs, Zadra recorded 14 digs, Herlevi had 16 digs, kracht had two kills and five digs, Van Gheem led the team with 23 assists and had five digs and Owens totaled a dig.
