ASHLAND, Wis. – The Northland College Women's Hockey team fell in the series final to St. Olaf College 3-1 Saturday afternoon in Ashland, Wis.
Taylor Richmond scored her first goal of the season coming on a power play in the second period.
Senior
Corrin Hanson made her season debut in the net. In the first period, the Oles outshot the Jills 15-6 but Hanson saved all the shots she saw helping Northland remain level entering the second period. 11 minutes into the second period St. Olaf scored the opening goal. Four minutes later Northland knotted the game up scoring on their first power play of the game. Richmond netted the equalizer to end the period 1-1. Within the first minute of the third period the Oles regained their lead with a goal from Solvei Berg-Messerole. St. Olaf added one more before the final horn to win 3-1.
Northland recorded 19 shots in the game with
Kyleigh Moffatt recording a team-high six. Moffatt had one shot in the first two periods and then four in the final period of play. Richmond and
Maddy Bloedel finished behind her with three shots. In net Hanson tallied 47 saves.
The LumberJills are on the road next week as they travel to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Friday and the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Saturday.
