EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The Northland College Women's Hockey team was defeated 5-2 by No. 9 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in the first Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game Friday night in Eau Claire, Wis. Sophomore

Hannah Baumann both scored their first collegiate goals in the game.
The first period was scoreless for the majority of play. When the Blugold were on their first power-play they scored with the final shot of the period with 90 seconds remaining. The LumberJills recorded five shots in the first 20 minutes all coming from five different student-athletes. UW-Eau Claire doubled its lead nine minutes into the second period. Shortly after the Blugolds added another on the power-play goal. Two minutes later the Jills got on the board with a goal from Moffatt. On their next power-play, the Blugolds added another goal before the period ended. Early in the final period, UWEC scored its fourth power-play goal to go up 5-1. Baumann ended the scoring in the game for the Jills' second goal to end the game 5-2.
Northland recorded 14 shots in the game with senior
Taylor Richmond leading the way tallying a shot in each period.
Kate Holtz also had multiple shots with two. In goal, freshman
Karlee Lehner made her third start of the season. Lehner made 36 saves in the game and has 107 this season.
The LumberJills continue their road trip tomorrow (Saturday) as they take on No. 4 University of Wisconsin-River Falls at 2:05 p.m.
