Women’s Basketball drops first game of Nicolet National Bank Tip-Off Tournament

Northland bested by St. Norbert College

DE PERE, Wis. – The Northland College Women's Basketball team was defeated in game one of the Nicolet National Bank Tip-Off Tournament 27-74 by St. Norbert College Friday night in De Pere, Wis. Tianna McKinley put up double figures to lead the LumberJills for the third game in a row.

Northland got on the board early with a three-pointer from Katelyn Altaha giving them an early lead. The lead did not last long with the Green Knights scoring the next 20 points. From there the Jills were unable to climb out of the hole and suffered another early season loss.

The Jills recorded their most shots in a game this season at 51 but had their lowest conversion rate at 19.6 percent. From behind the three-point line, Northland shot 4-for-26 (15.4%) with Kodie Rempp making two of the shots. A part of their many shots came from their fewest turnovers in a game.

In all three games this season McKinley has paced Northland in points reaching double digits in all. Against SNC she shot 5-for-15 from the field, 1-for-4 from behind the arc, and 2-for-3 from the free throw line for 13 points. Rempp was behind her with six points from a pair of threes. Freshman Madison Mendoza recorded a season-high five rebounds to lead Northland.

The LumberJills concluded the Nicolet National Bank Tip-Off Tournament tomorrow (Saturday) as they take on the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh at 1 p.m.
